Pickleball Rules

Pickleball Rules are simple to learn, making the game fun for beginners and competitive for seasoned players.

The game is played on a court similar to badminton, with a net, paddles, and a perforated plastic ball. Matches can be singles or doubles, and points are scored only by the serving team.

Getting Started

To start, serve underhand and diagonally across the court, with both feet behind the baseline.

The “two-bounce rule” means each side must let the ball bounce once before volleys begin.

Players cannot volley (hit in the air) while standing in the non-volley zone, often called the “kitchen.”

Pickleball Scoring

You win points when your team is serving. Games are typically played to 11 points, and a team must win by 2.

Pickleball Court Dimensions

Pickleball court dimensions are 44 feet by 20 feet. They were purposely designed to create a fast-paced, strategic game that is accessible to the widest range of players possible.

The smaller size compared to tennis courts allows for quicker rallies and emphasizes agility and shot placement over sheer power.

The inclusion of a seven-foot "non-volley zone" or "kitchen" further prevents players from dominating near the net, forcing them to rely on skill and strategy. Enjoy your game!
